Thank you Chuck!

Thank you Chuck!

The first major trip was the Continental Divide Trip last year, from Douglas Arizona to Blue Herron Lake in Northern New Mexico.  It was great to shake out the kinks of the Tortuga Truck (in other words, break stuff).

The spare tire rack had to be stronger.  Brakes had to be checked.  The cabin to truck mounting had to be adjusted.  Add to that, an electrical problem in the dash, and we had just the start of the list of repairs and modifications that had to be done before getting the Tortuga Truck one mile more down the trail.

It was a daunting task, but Tortuga made a great friend and coach.  Chuck McKay, the Manager of New Port Terminals in Galveston, Texas took an interest in the Tortuga Truck.  Chuck is a master of all things trucks, having run a trucking company.  There was no tool he didn’t have, but the greater value was there was no mechanical or electrical problem he had not already solved.

Thank you Chuck… the Tortuga is running strong on the trail.  BUT! have another great idea, I don’t know how to do…..

Tortuga
